1000 Plateaus

If a place can be defined as relational, historical and concerned with identity, then it is a “place” – the rest would be “non-places” such as supermarkets, hotels, airports, shopping malls, refugee camps and other contemporary global characteristics that fall in the category of today’s modern living. Using this concept I currently work with a project where I explore the term of (non)belonging and the forming of (my) identity through the landscapes I encounter. I focus on places where hold no cultural or historical context for me, therefore I call them “non-places” and I explore their ability of becoming a “place” by using memory and collage.
